The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has granted nearly $1 million in economic development money to Utah.

The money, which will be administered by the Utah Technology Finance Corp., is to be used to assist for-profit businesses in Orem and Provo. New, technology-based firms will be targeted to provide jobs for low- and moderate- income people in the product assembly, manufacturing, fabrication, secretarial and clerical fields.The money is part of HUD's Special Projects Grants program, according to a HUD press release.
