Our beloved mother Patricia Beane Farrell, died October 14,1990 of cancer while in the loving care of her children, Mike and Lindsay.
Born January 20, 1940 in Salt Lake City to Kenneth and Kathleen Birch Beane. Married John M. Farrell, April 6, 1962, later divorced.Pat was President of Chi Omega Sorority, 1961. Graduated from the U. of U., B.A. degree in History; Masters Degree in History, 1987. Teacher at Olympus High School, 1964-1990, Social Studies. Teacher leader-Coordinator for Advanced Placement, Granite School District, 1983-1990. Initiated and developed the Advanced Placement European History course at Olympus High School,1973. Student Government Advisor, 1963-1988. Pat was one of 3 High School teachers to serve on Governor Bangerter's educational advisory board 1989-90. Pat was in Russia one month to investigate and tentatively arrange a student and teacher exchange between Moscow suburb and Holladay, Utah. She received the Freedom Foundation's Excellence in Teaching Award, 1963; Kiwanis Club's "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" award, 1981; Utah Council for Social Studies "Excellent Teaching in, Social Studies" award, 1983; Granite District's excellence Award for Superiority in teaching (only high school teacher awarded), 1989. Pat was associated with Junior League of Salt Lake City. Pat was more than a teacher, she influenced many lives through her love of teaching.
She is survived by her son and daughter, Michael Farrell, Lindsay Harmond and son-in-law David Harmond; mother, Kathleen Beane and two brothers, Mike Beane, Salt Lake City and Chris Beane,Tacoma, Washington and many loving students. Preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:30 p.m., October 17, 1990 at the Wasatch Presbyterian Church, 1626 South 1700 East. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
