Gordon Howard Newman, age 72, died October 12, 1990 of complications due to Cancer and Rheumatoid Arthritis in the VA Hospital in Salt Lake.

He was born August 17, 1918 in Milo, Idaho to Albert Samuel and Sarah Julia Anderson Newman. He married Mildred E. Hanson, April 21, 1945 in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the LDS Church. Gordon served in the US Army, and was a POW during World War II for three years. Gordon was an avid sports fan. He retired from Freeds Motor Company.He is survived by his wife, sons and daughters, Mrs. James R. (Karen) Bramble, Bennion; Mrs. Richard E. (Joyce) Kirkham, Sandy; Diane Mellus, Salt Lake; Mrs. Kim G. (Sheryl) Roberts, Sandy; David H. Newman and wife, Olivia, Steven R. Newman, 19 grandchildren, one great granddaughter. He is also survived by a brother, Arnold and wife, Paula Newman, Idaho Falls, Idaho; a sister, Thora Peterson, Carmichael, California. He will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 16, 1990, 12 noon, at Mackay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Dr., where friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 Memory Lane. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at the VA Hospital for the special care they gave to Gordon.
