Auditions have been scheduled for upcoming theater productions on the following dates:

- MONDAY & TUESDAY, Oct. 15 & 16, for the Babcock Theatre production of Oliver Goldsmith's "She Stoops to Conquer," directed by Hester Schell, MFA directing candidate.Roles: nine men and four women.

Audition: Come prepared with a learned piece. Be familiar with the script. Sign up for a time slot on the audition board in the Performing Arts Building (adjacent to the University of Utah campus bookstore). Scripts available for 24-hour checkout from Shirley Kilgore, Room 212, Pioneer Memorial Theatre building (581-3590). Auditions will be held from 7 until 10 p.m. both days in Room 115 of the Performing Arts Building. Callbacks are schduled on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the same time in Room 110.

The play is a classic comedy about "the mistakes of a night" on an English country estate in 1773. Rehearsals begin Nov. 26 with performances scheduled from Jan. 31 through Feb. 10.

- TUESDAY, Oct. 16, for City Rep's Court Stage production of the Victor Herbert operetta, "Babes in Toyland."

Roles: All are open, including Bo Peep, Tom-Tom, Deedle and Dum. Men and women, in particular, are needed. There are some roles for teens and children as well.

Audition: Come prepared to sing a favorite song. You will be taught a short dance. Accompanist provided.

Auditions will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Utah Theatre at 148 South Main, Salt Lake.

The production will be directed by Joanne M. Parker and will run from November 30 throughout the Christmas season.

- WEDNESDAY & SATURDAY, Oct. 17 & 20, for the Heritage Theatre's production of "Almost a Miracle," Brigham City playwright Paul Burt's original new play set during the Christmas season.

Roles: two men and one woman in their 40s; a boy and girl, about 18; an 8-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, and a cantankerous gentleman in his late 60s (preferably capable of speaking with a heavy Irish dialect). Also, a quartet of carolers - two boys, two girls, one of whom plays the guitar.

Auditions: 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. Cold readings from the script. Prepared material not required, but may be presented. Rehearsal schedule to be arranged after the cast is selected.

Performances will be Monday, Friday and Saturday evenings, Nov. 30-Dec. 17, with matinees on Dec. 8 and 15.

- SATURDAY, Oct. 20, by the Salt Lake City School District for "The Ice Wolf," which will be directed by Xan Johnson. The play will be presented to students and to the public, December 5 through 8.

Roles: There are six to eight roles for junior high or high school aged youth and six to eight roles for adults.

Auditions: From 9 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. in the Little Theatre at East High School, 850 S. 1300 East.
