Rio Vista Oil, a Utah company that owns U-Serve of Idaho, faces a $10,000 state penalty for failing to clean up contamination caused by leaking underground fuel tanks at a Caldwell service station.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare issued a notice this week stating that contaminated soil and groundwater were revealed when Rio Vista removed four underground fuel storage tanks at the Caldwell location.Besides the penalty being assessed against Rio Vista, Health and Welfare said it was attempting to recover federal money from the company that the agency used to investigate the site.
