Elizabeth Loynd Prothero, 80, of Springville, died Wednesday, October 10, 1990 in Provo at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

She was born November 1, 1909 in Springville to Joseph S. and Sarah Ann Briggs Loynd. She married Dean Jay Prothero in Salt Lake City; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her husband died in November, 1966. She was raised and attended schools in Springville, graduated from Springville High; she attended Dixie College, and received a Normal Teaching certificate. She taught school for many years. Member of the LDS Church, she held varied positions over the years, Primary President, Relief Society President and many others. She was also a member of Etfumbee Club and served as PTA President. She enjoyed reading and sewing.Survived by three sons and two daughters, Earl Prothero, Fairview; David Prothero, Springville; Paul Prothero, South Jordan; Linda Monsen, Vernal; Susan Dunn, Payson; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Kimball, Heber City.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 13, 1990, 10:30 a.m., at the Springville Spring Creek Stake Center, 350 North 400 East. Friends may call Friday evening, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 9-10 a.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
