Newly elected officers of the Utah Association of Future Farmers of America and prize winners were announced recently at the 60th annual FFA Convention in Logan.

New officers are Mike Thomsen, Spanish Fork High School, president; Shad Sorenson, South Summit, vice president; Nicholle Phillips, Springville, secretary; Keisha Phillips, Juab, treasurer; Shelly Friery, North Summit, reporter; and Corey Ercanbrack, Payson, sentinel.Award winners and their prizes are:

Star State Farmers: Jeff Wyatt, $300; Lisa Killpack, $100; and Scott Arnold, $75, all from Tooele; Star State Agri-businessmen: Corey Ercanbrack, $300; David Whitacker, Millard, $100; and Kurt Stapley, Morgan, $75; and Intermountain Farmers Association scholarships: Daniel Dean Weldert, Beaver, $500.

American Farmer $125 convention travel awards: Kelby Swallow, Millard; Clark Bown, Gunnison; Preston Harward, Richfield; Neil Brown, Payson; Donald Jaques, Morgan; Roy Carlson, Clearfield; and Greg Houston, Roosevelt.

State Public Speaker $100 awards: Lori Freston, Roosevelt; Lisa Killpack; and Jonathan Peterson, American Fork; Production Credit Association and Federal Land Bank Association $500 scholarship award: Rusty Bastian, North Sevier; and Union Pacific $500 scholarship awards: Michael Thomsen, Spanish Fork; Greg Minor, Springville; and Lisa Killpack.

Utah State Sweetheart $100 travel award: Holli Skinner, Juab, who will compete at the American Royal Queen competition later this year.
