Two Okanogan County Jail inmates in Washington state made so much racket trying to escape that other prisoners complained to guards, who caught the men in a crawl space, the chief jailer said.

The two were using a piece of metal to chip through an 8-inch concrete wall, jailer Dan Slattery said. The men removed a ceiling light fixture to get into the crawl space. It only took a couple of strikes on the concrete for the noise to wake other prisoners about midnight Monday, Slattery said.

Billy Dale Anderson, 22, of Omak, Wash., and David Cabarett, 33, of Brewster, Wash., now face second-degree attempted escape charges.
