Miami quarterback Craig Erickson is new in the top five in the Heisman Trophy poll. His performance in the victory over Florida State won enough support to bump Colorado running back Eric Bieniemy from the leaders, into the "Others" category.
With Ty Detmer of Brigham Young and Shawn Moore of Virginia idle last week, there was little movement in the Heisman standings. The quarterbacks remain 1-2. Michigan RB Jon Vaughn and Oregon QB Bill Musgrave are still third and fourth.Heisman hopefuls are tracked each week by a panel of sportswriters. Each votes for five candidates, with five points awarded for a first-place vote, four for second place, etc. First-place votes are in parentheses.
