FORGETFUL: Thomas Edison stepped off a train in Orange, N.J., and walked down the platform. The station master, knowing how forgetful the inventor was, asked his customary question:

"Did you leave anything behind, Mr. Edison?""No, I'm sure I have everything," replied the inventor, taking a count of his suitcases.

As he spoke the words, he happened to look up at the train. With a start, he dropped the bags and raced back to the car in which he had been riding. What prompted this burst of activity was the face he had seen at the window, the face of his bride, with whom he had just returned from a honeymoon trip.
