The Salt Lake Trappers used a four-run rally in the sixth inning to go ahead of the Pocatello Giants en route to an 11-4 victory Sunday night.
The Trappers are 28-13 for the season and lead the Pioneer League's Souther Division by a game and a half over Butte.Myron Gardner, who gave up two runs in the first inning, got the win, his third straight, after opening the season with four straight losses. He allowed 10 hits while striking out 10 and walking four.
Salt Lake's Kelly Zane extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single in the eighth inning.
Zane started the sixth inning rally with a walk. Kerry Shaw, who was 3-for-5, then doubled. Zane scored when Greg Ehmig was safe on an error. Marty Peralta singled to score Shaw and Tommy Boyce tripled to score Ehmig and Peralta.
The Trappers took control of the game with six runs in the eighth inning on three hits and two errors.
Salt Lake returns to Derks Field for a game tonight with Butte.
