Myron Natwick, the animator who created the sexy cartoon heroine Betty Boop, died during the weekend in Santa Monica, Calif. He was 100.

While working for Max and Dave Fleischer, the producers of the famed bouncing ball sing-along cartoons, Natwick was asked to design a female character for the currently popular song, "Boop-Boop-A-Doop," by Helen Kane.In an interview this year with the Los Angeles Times, Natwick said the key to Betty's 60-year popularity was simple - sex.
