It's the end of the regular season for the state's 17 2A prep football teams Wednesday, with a couple of state-playoff berths already decided and a couple others still up in the air.

Here's how the two 2A league look, with the team's respective region records. Six playoff berths are on the line in Regions 9 and 10, with independents Grand County and San Juan figuring into both leagues. In Region 9, second-ranked North Sanpete (5-0) has clinched the top berth no matter how the Hawks fare against already-eliminated Juab (0-5). Fourth- ranked Park City (4-1) is guaranteed the No. 2 seed, while Grantsville (3-2) and Grand (3-2) are assured spots no matter what.

Park City hosts Morgan (2-3) and Grantsville travels to South Summit (2-3), with both Morgan and South Summit needing wins to avoid a tie for sixth place with Manti (2-4), which has ended its schedule.

And in Region 10, the top three spots are set as well, with Hurricane (6-0) first, Beaver (5-1) second, and Millard (4-2) third. North Sevier (1-5) and South Sevier (0-6) have been ousted from postseason play.

Now, the league's games that matter - Delta (3-3) visits Kanab (3-3) with fourth- and fifth-seed honors on the line. San Juan (3-3), which hosts Grand in an battle of 2A independents, needs to win to figure into the six playoff spots. Richfield (2-4), which hosts Beaver, must win to force a tie for the sixth spot.

OTHER WEDNESDAY GAMES: First, let's remind you who's NOT playing this week. All Region 4 teams have the week off, and the half-dozen Regions 7 and 8 teams who are playing are involved in non-league games.

In Region 1, Davis (4-0) visits Viewmont (1-3), with the Darts needing a win to lock up the league title and the Vikings needing a victory keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Roy (4-1) finishes its league slate by traveling to Weber (2-2) - Roy can lock up at least second-place honors with a win, while Weber is the only team that can foul up the likely 1-2 finish by Davis and Roy. Also, Clearfield (2-2) hosts Bonneville (2-2), with the two joining Weber in a current three-way tie for the third and fourth playoff berths.

Skyline (4-0) hosts Highland (2-2) in what was going to be a Region 2 battle between Nos. 1 and 2 before the formerly ranked Rams lost to Alta.

Skyline has the current bead on the league title, but nothing's wrapped up quite yet. Brighton (3-1) has quietly moved into second in the standings, but the Bengals must now travel to face a revived Alta (3-2) team. Olympus (2-2) welcomes East (0-4), as the Titans battle for one of the four postseason berths and the Leopards hope to avoid an eliminating loss. Cottonwood (1-4) meets winless Layton of Region 1 in a non-league battle.

In Region 3, Cyprus (5-0) leads Granger (4-1) and West Jordan (4-1) - all three are playoff-bound, but the Pirates can clinch the league title and No. 1 berth by beating the visiting Jaguars. If Taylorsville (3-2) can defeat Granger, then the Warriors are locked into the playoffs as well. Hillcrest (2- 3) travels to Bingham (2-3) to see who enters next week's final regular season game with a one-game lead for the`fifth and final playoff berth. Kearns (0-5) and Hunter (0-5) are already eliminated.

Perhaps the week's best game is in Region 5, where a pair of fifth-ranked 3A teams meet to decide the league title. Bear River (4-0) takes its six-game winning streak to Mountain Crest (4-0), with the Mustangs having won four straight after a 0-2 preseason. But the region's Nos. 3, 4 and 5 berths are still up in the air, as Sky View (2-2) visits Box Elder (2-2) and Logan (1-3) visits eliminated Ogden (0-5). Ben Lomond (2-3) will play Carbon.

In Region 6, playoff-bound Bountiful (5-0) can clinch the league title with a win over West (4-1), while the Panthers earn a berth if they beat Bountiful, or if Jordan (4-1) defeats Tooele (2-3). Woods Cross (3-2) also qualifies as one of the league's four playoff teams if the Wildcats down Murray (2-3), or if Jordan and West win. Murray was win to stay in postseason contention, while Tooele can afford a loss in certain situations, but the Buffaloes improve their odds with a victory. Eliminated Granite (0-5) and Judge (0-5) pair up.
