Salt Lake police are looking for a man who they believe has robbed an east-side Smith's Food and Drug Center twice in one week - each time during busy store hours.
About 3:30 p.m. Monday, a man wielding a sawed-off shotgun entered Smith's, 876 E. 800 South, and demanded money from both a service booth and a clerk at a cash register. He then fled with an undetermined amount of cash.Last Wednesday night, a man matching the same description robbed the same grocery store about 7:30 p.m. and fled with a considerable amount of cash. In that robbery, he had apparently hidden a shotgun inside the sleeve of a jacket.
Detectives are looking for a male Hispanic, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 130 pounds with black glasses and a diamond earring. He may have fled in a step-side "low rider" pickup truck with chrome rims.
