ZCMI will open two new specialty stores, named ZCMI II, this week. The first unveiling will be Aug. 3 in the Fashion Place Mall. The public is invited to the ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m.
The second unveiling will be Aug. 4 at Foothill Village. Each new ZCMI II store will have approximately 25,000 square feet of space and employ 85 in 15 departments.Bruce Larsen has been named manager of both stores. He began his retailing career in 1959 with Castleton's and ended his employment there as vice president/general merchandise manager. He holds a degree in marketing from the University of Utah and has served on the board of the Downtown Retail Merchants Association.
ZCMI II will be devoted entirely to accessories, cosmetics and men's, women's, juniors' and young men's fashions. A second ZCMI II store will be opened in Salt Lake Valley at a location to be announced later.
The grand openings will feature several events including Elise Aube, editor of Glamour Magazine, holding a fashion show for women's clothes at 7 p.m. Denise Boineau, assistant merchandising director for Seventeen Magazine, will have a juniors'back-to-school show at 1 p.m.
There will be giveaways and shopping sprees all week in all junior and women's departments, including a $500 women's wardrobe, a day in San Francisco with Esprit and a $250 women's shoe wardrobe. Men are eligible for drawings and giveaways including suits, sportcoats and a bicycle.
During August, new products will be displayed and representatives of several clothes designers will be in every department to give fashion advice and new ideas.
Shopping hours at the two stores will be Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closed Sunday.
