Business students who graduated college within the past year received substantially higher salary offers compared with those who graduated the year before, an annual survey said.

The survey was compiled by the College Placement Council, a professional association that represents the career planning and placement directors of 1,300 U.S. colleges and universities as well as the nation's top corporate and government recruiting organizations.It showed average salary offers for accounting graduates climbed to $24,120 a year, 10.9 percent higher than those in the previous survey.

Graduates in business administration received a 4.1 percent increase to a yearly average of $21,264, while marketing and distribution graduates garnered salary offers 3.6 percent higher at an average of $21,084.

Strong salary offers for banking and finance graduates continued with a current average of $22,812.
