Alan Alda and Phyllis Diller have joined the list of big-name contributors to the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Theater at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Alda, who directed Lillian in "Sweet Liberty," and Diller each gave $1,000 toward a $250,000 endowment named for the Ohio sisters who were film pioneers.

More than $177,000 has been pledged by the likes of Bob Hope, Paul Newman, Helen Hayes, Roddy McDowall, Eva Marie Saint, Lily Tomlin and Jimmy Stewart. Saint, a Bowling Green alumnus who serves with McDowall as co-chair of the theater's advisory committee, will return to the campus for a rededication of the Gish Film Theater Oct. 14.
