Three local students are among 1,700 high school juniors across the nation to be awarded the Rensselaer Medal for excellence in the study of mathematics and science.
Jeffery S. Anderson, an Olympus High School student, Paul Minson, a junior at Brighton High School and April Tsukamoto, a Highland High School student, have been awarded the medal by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, N.Y.
Each year the institute awards the medal to one junior from each of approximately 1,700 American high schools.
Anderson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Max E. Anderson, 2412 Arnett Drive, Salt Lake City. Minson is the son of Stanley H. Minson, 6811 Normandy Way, Midvale. Tsukamoto is the daughter of Maryetta Tsukamoto, 1963 Wyoming St., Salt Lake City.
The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, founded in 1824, is the oldest technological university in the country.
