Wendy Williams, a West Valley resident and a proof operator for First Interstate Bank of Utah, set a record recently in the First Interstate Proof Challenge in Las Vegas by processing 4,477 items (checks) per hour.

For her efforts, she received $700 in cash and a Caribbean cruise for two. Her production was 86 items per hour faster than runner-up Jeremy Nelson of First Interstate Bank of Arizona, whose 4,391 items per hour was better than the winning effort in the contest last year by Elaine Escobar, representing First Interstate of California.Escobar presented the bank's perpetual "Excellence in Productivity" trophy to Williams. Nelson received $1,000 in cash for second place and Bernadette Cabal, representing First Interstate of California, received $500 for third place.
