A panel of judges will hold hearings throughout the state, beginning Nov. 13 and during the next three years, to determine whether to impanel a grand jury.
The 1990 Legislature changed the grand-jury process to a statewide system involving judges from all judicial districts. The judges meet every three years in each district to hear from citizens and prosecutors wanting to pre-sent evidence of wrongdoing.Individuals who want to testify before the panel must contact the court clerk in a scheduled judicial district or the state district court administrator at least one week in advance of the hearing.
Hearings are scheduled as follows, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all locations:
Nov. 13, 1990, 1st District Court, Logan.
Jan. 8, 1991, 4th District, Provo.
May 14, 1991, 8th District, Vernal.
Oct. 8, 1991, 2nd District, Ogden.
Jan. 14, 1992, 6th District, Manti or Richfield.
