Completion of the first phase of a $400,000 improvement project in downtown Richfield is providing shoppers and employees in the business district a new 100-stall parking lot behind stores on the west side of Main Street between Center and First North.

The project was contracted to SY Construction of American Fork, owned by Richfield's former mayor, Sue Marie Young. Alley improvements were also included in the contract. The overall project also includes facelifting of the back sides and entryways to business buildings, burying overhead utility lines and putting sewer and water lines beneath the alleys.

The former Bradshaw Auto Building was purchased and razed to make room for the parking lot.
