Alexander Blight, 84, of Eureka, Utah, died at his home, September 30, 1990.
Born March 23, 1906 in Idaho Springs, Colorado, to Frederick and Laura Louise Williams Blight. Made his home in Eureka since the age of six. Married Maud M. Siler, in Provo, Utah, January 7, 1946. She died January 11, 1989. He attended Tintic High School. Attended University of Utah. Received Bachelor of Science Degree from Brigham Young University. Masters Degree from University of Southern California. He was an outstanding teacher, educator, and Superintendent of the Tintic School District for 48 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Member Tintic Lodge #9 F&AM, for over 50 years, was past Grand Lodge Officer, past Master and secretary for over 20 years. He was recipient of the Hiriam Award for service. Member Tintic Chapter #18 Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years. Served as Worthy Grand Patron - 1936. He was a life member of Tintic Lodge #711 BPOE. Was past Exalted Ruler. Past State President. Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. Member Eureka Senior Citizens. Served in World War II in U.S. Army in Africa and Italy. Member Eureka American Legion.Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Laura Ann) Johnson; grandson, Andrew Paul Johnson, both of El Cajon, California.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., in the Eureka Methodist Church. Friends may call Thursday, 7-9 p.m. at Holladay Hills Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin and one hour prior to services at the church in Eureka Friday. Interment: Eureka City Cemetery with full Military Rites by VFW District #4.
