Veteran Morgan County Commissioner Ken Adams, the only Republican member of the three-member panel, says he will not seek re-election this year.

Adams said he is stepping down after six years on the commission to devote more attention to a growing business, continue his education and spend more time with his family.Adams is publisher of the weekly Morgan County News and monthly Pineview Review. He said the Pineview Review will become a weekly publication after the new Trappers Loop Highway between Mountain Green and Huntsville is completed.

Adams, 37, also teaches part-time at Morgan High school.

Adams, who lives with his wife and five children in Porterville, said he is going back to college for a degree in public school administration. He has a bachelor of science degree from Weber State College in sociology and a master's from Utah State University in special education.

Adams was elected to a two-year term in 1982, defeating incumbent Democratic Commissioner Frank Bohman, and was re-elected to a four-year term in 1984.
