Alberta "Allie" Scorup Fairbourn, 84, of Orem, died Tuesday, October 2, 1990 in Bountiful, Utah after a lingering illness.
She was born April 7, 1906 in Bluff, Utah, a daughter of John A. and Emma Bayles Scorup. She married Rulon R. Fairbourn June 13, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died November 12, 1947. Allie attended schools in Provo and graduated from BYU. She taught both secondary and elementary school for several years. She was vivacious, artistic and loved the outdoors, dancing, entertaining and traveling. She encouraged her children to excel. Allie was known for her smile, strong testimony and love of life. An active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous ward and stake positions. She served an honorable mission in Florida and was an ordinance worker in the Provo LDS Temple.Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn Jensen, Riverton; Joyce Swenson, Bountiful; her sons, LeeRay Fairbourn, Layton; Dennis R. Fairbourn, Orangevale, California; 21 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Caroline Polly, Provo. She was preceded by four sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 1990, 11 a.m. in the Orem Vermont Second Ward LDS Chapel, 400 North 400 East. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem, and Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the ward chapel. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery.
