Reacting to reports of extremely poor range conditions on the Henry Mountains, the Utah Board of Big Game Control has authorized issuing 115 once-in-a-lifetime permits for cow buffalo.
Only applications sent in by mail will be accepted. Because of the urgency of the hunt, entry must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m. on Saturday. The drawing will be Oct. 10.This will be a five-day notice hunt, with the first hunt to be called on Oct. 16. Subsequent hunts will be called as weather and time permit. There will be 15 hunters called out on each hunt. The final hunt will be called in late December.
There is no formal application. Those interested should print their name, address, phone number and big game or combination license number, along with the fee ($202 for resident and $1,002 for nonresidents), and mail to Buffalo Permit Application, P.O. Box 16500, Salt Lake City, Utah 84116.
