Traffic started rolling on I-80, between Redwood Road and I-15, as crews removed barricades and detour signs Monday that kept vehicles off the vital stretch of freeway for a year. The Utah Department of Transportation lived up to its commitment to reopen the reconstructed interstate in a year. It lived up to that promise by opening the freeway at about 3:30 p.m. - and exactly 12 months from the day the reconstruction project got under way. Some cleanup and painting is still being done, but it won't interfere with traffic, UDOT said. In addition to I-80, all ramps and collector roads closed because of the reconstruction are now open.
