Jack Jones, Orem's director of public works, has been named by the Utah League of Cities and Towns as its 1990 Appointed Employee of the Year.
The ULCT is a lobbying body that is represented by 322 Utah cities.Jones has worked for the city for 16 years. Before coming to the city, he worked for W. W. Clyde Construction Co. and Thorn Construction Co. He has more than 30 years of experience in the public-works field. Jones will retire from the city in December.
As part of the award, Geneva Steel gave the city $2,000, to be used as the city wishes. The city has not yet announced how the money will be spent.
