Salvadoran President Jose Napoleon Duarte will undergo a second round of chemotherapy here this week in an attempt to slow the advance of his terminal liver cancer.

Duarte, 62, arrived in Washington Monday with his wife, Ines, and his son, Alejandro. He will undergo a week of treatment at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.The president spent six weeks at Walter Reed in June and July undergoing diagnosis and treatment. Doctors removed most of his stomach, which had been affected by the cancer.

Duarte's physicians give him between six and 18 months to live.
