President Ezra Taft Benson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was in serious but stable condition early Monday after being moved back into intensive care Sunday morning at LDS Hospital.

The 91-year-old church leader was moved back into ICU after gastrointestinal bleeding was detected, said Don LeFevre, a church spokesman.LeFevre said Sunday that doctors wanted to get the bleeding under control and took the action as a precautionary measure. He said doctors had indicated that the gastrointestinal bleeding was not related to blood clots on each side of President Benson's brain and for which he underwent surgery Sept. 19 and Sept. 23.
