A 31-year-old Lehi man died early Sunday evening in a one-vehicle accident in American Fork Canyon.

Gary Kopinski was traveling down the canyon road at 6 p.m. when he apparently went around a curve too fast, police said. Kopinski lost control of the vehicle, left the road and landed upside down in American Fork Creek. An unidentified Forest Service ranger and passersby pulled Kopinski from his submerged vehicle, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Derek Odney.
