Eight players vying for a possible two roster openings will be on hand at East High Monday for the beginnings of training camp.

Rookies and free agents will participate in a mini-camp Monday through Wednesday. Practice sessions are daily at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., with the morning sessions closed to the public.Those rookies and free agents invited to Jazz training camp - which officially gets under way on Friday - include Andy Toolson (BYU), Mark Tillmon (Georgetown), Walter Palmer (Dartmouth), Chris Munk (Southern California), Brett Vroman (UCLA, UNLV and recently in Europe), Alan Bannister (Arkansas State), Melvin Newbern (Minnesota), and Nate Johnston (with Jazz and Portland last year).

Also invited is second-year Jazz guard Eric Johnson.

The Jazz open their preseason schedule with an Oct. 13 game at Chicago against the Bulls.
