Questar Corp. has announced that one of its affiliates, Celsius Energy Co., is completing final testing on two development oil wells in southwestern Colorado.
Both wells are in the 9,000-acre Cutthroat Unit, operated by Celsius, about 20 miles south of Dove Creek, the company said in a prepared statement released Thursday.Four other wells in the unit have produced more than 1.5 million barrels of oil and 2.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas, the company said.
The first of the new wells - Cutthroat Unit No. 7 - extended the field to the north and was completed June 22 for an initial potential of 419 barrels of oil and 680,000 cubic feet of gas per day, the statement said.
The second well - Cutthroat Unit No. 8 - extended the field to the south and flowed at an average rate of 382 barrels of oil and 380,000 cubic feet of gas per day.
Celsius has a 42.75 percent working interest in the drilling of the first well and a 51.25 percent working interest in two offset producing wells to the south, the company said.
The affiliate has a 50.88 percent working interest in the drilling of the second well and a 50.85 percent interest in its two offset producing wells to the north.
Mobil Oil Corp. is the other major working interest owner in the unit, and Texaco Producing Inc. has a 57.25 percent working interest in the drilling of the first well, the statement said.
