Dixie College has recently been designated as a testing center for official certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, according to Ed Frantz, auto electronics instructor.

Automobile mechanics who wish to become certified in an automotive specialty or to obtain certification can now do so through a series of tests sponsored by the ASE and given at Dixie College. The Dixie College Business and Technology Division has recognized the need for students and local merchants to prepare for this test, Frantz said, and is offering refresher courses in the eight areas of testing. The course will be given on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. in the automotive building classroom. Prospective students may register for this class by calling 673-4811, ext. 354. The automotive department is also providing a course on understanding testing techniques and detailed up-to-date information about the tests.

"The dates for the national testing will be Nov. 8, 13 and 15," Frantz noted. "The place will be at the Dixie College testing center. Since Weber State is the only other testing center in Utah, Dixie should have many opportunities to serve southern Utah and Nevada communities."
