An open house and a rededication ceremony will be held Monday, Oct. 1, at the renovated Sprague Branch Library.
The open house will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. The Salt Lake City Library System branch is located at 2131 S. 1100 East.A brief ceremony at 6:30 p.m. will be followed by refreshments, music and tours of the remodeled library. Program speakers include Salt Lake City Council member Don C. Hale, Library Board President Cynthia Ong, Library Director Dennis Day and Associate Director Nancy Tessman.
While the renovation concentrated on making structural and mechanical improvements, providing handicapped access and a rear entrance to the building, efforts were made to maintain the historic facade of the 62-year-old building. The project included installation of an elevator and creation of more usable space in the building's lower level.
Landscaping was also a major part of the project.
