After nearly two months, city officials have rescinded Springville's mandatory watering restrictions.

Water Superintendent Bert Oakey said the restrictions - which permitted citizens to use culinary water for lawn and garden care for three-hour increments two days per week, depending on street addresses, and not on Sundays - restored city water reserves to adequate levels. With September's cooler temperatures, usage decreased steadily throughout the month, so city officials have decided to relax the restrictions.

In late July, the city asked residents to comply voluntarily with an odd-even schedule for outside watering, but those suggestions weren't being followed and the schedule was made mandatory.
