A former Orem public safety officer failed to appear in the Highland Justice Court Wednesday evening as scheduled to answer a charge of lewdness.
Alpine police filed the lewdness charge against former officer Stephen C. Leetham last week. Lewdness is a Class B misdemeanor.Orem City fired Leetham Sept. 7 for "conduct unbecoming an officer" after the Alpine Police Department informed the city it was investigating several incidents of lewdness. Leetham worked for Orem for two years.
An Alpine police officer said he observed Leetham this summer at the Adventure Learning Park in American Fork "wearing bikini-type underwear,"
according to Police Chief Brent Leseberg. Leetham also had on a shirt and baseball cap, the report said.
