Maj. Gen. Dale Thompson Jr. was named commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center during a change-of-command ceremony Monday.

Thompson, who spent nearly a year as vice commander in 1986, said during Monday's change-of-command ceremony that he was glad to be back."That was not nearly long enough, but now I look forward to renewing ties," he said.

Thompson is a 30-year veteran of the Air Force and the Ogden ALC's 28th commander. He had been a chief of staff since 1988 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Officiating at Monday's ceremony was Gen. Charles McDonald, commander of the Air Force Logistics Command at Wright-Patterson AFB.

The Ogden ALC, Hill's largest organization, has worldwide responsibility for logistics support of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the F-4 Phantom and the Minuteman and MX intercontinental ballistic missiles.
