The Utah Association of Secondary School Principals has named Hillcrest High Principal Ted P. Lovato as the 1990-91 Outstanding Principal of the Year.

Lovato has been involved in the secondary educational system for 19 years as a teacher, track and cross-country coach, guidance counselor and assistant principal and is currently in his fourth year as principal of Hillcrest High.He received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado, a master of education degree from the University of Utah, a school counselor certification from Brigham Young University and an educational administration certificate from BYU.

In 1989, the Utah Alliance for Arts Education gave Lovato the Outstanding Secondary Administrator award. The following year, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., selected him to receive the School Administrator Award, one of nine school administrators selected in the United States.
