The U.S. Postal Service will send a special guide book to every address in Utah - as well as to all 116 million addresses in the country.

The booklet, titled "Your Guide to Complete Addressing," is designed to teach how to get the best possible service from the new automated postal service. This will be the biggest mailing the Postal Service has undertaken to educate its customers, say Salt Lake postal officials, and is part of a program to help Americans take full advantage of the potential of high-speed electronic mail-sorting equipment.

Postal officials say increased customer cooperation in addressing mail is needed because the Postal Service is changing the way it processes mail. Some 52 percent of all letter mail now is sorted on automated scanning equipment, and by 1995 virtually all of that kind of mail will be sorted with automated equipment.
