Hot dogs and handshakes will all be part of Salt Lake County's second-annual County Government Week that begins Monday.
The event is designed to help residents better understand some of more than 100 services provided by county government. The event is scheduled to continue through Friday at several county-operated facilities as follows.Monday - County elected officials will cook free hot dogs for county residents from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Wheeler Farm, 6351 S. 900 East. "Music in Motion" and "The Clogging Grandmas" will entertain in the farm's new activity barn, while elected officials take time to meet constituents.
Tuesday - No activities scheduled.
Wednesday - The winners of the County Government Week art contest will be announced at the 10 a.m. County Commission meeting. Entries will be displayed all week. Area high school students have been invited to attend the County Commission meeting and quiz a panel of county officials on current events.
Thursday - The Judge Memorial Jazz Band is the featured entertainment at the County Government Center, 2001 S. State, which will be open to tours every half hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday - Free blood pressure and vision checks are offered on the first floor of the north building of the County Government Center, 2001 S. State, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
