Newell Love, 75, died Monday, September 24, 1990, in Clearfield.
He was born September 7, 1915, in Layton, to Hugh and Cora Irene Adams Love. He married Wanda Sanders; they were later divorced. He married Darthel "Dottie" Fife, November 10, 1947, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple in 1982. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 35 years as a truck driver. He also worked for many years at Woods Cross Canning Co., and Layton Sugar Factory. He assisted his wife in the formation of a ceramics shop. He was a life long resident of Layton. He graduated from Davis High School in 1935. He was a member of the LDS Church and was a High Priest and home teacher of the Layton 35th Ward. He helped in the construction of many chapels and was an excellent carpenter. He enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, gardening, livestock, and whistling. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, in Phillipines.He is survived by his wife, Layton; six sons and two daughters, Richard D. Love and LaMar Newell Love, both of Ogden; Val Duane Love, West Jordan; Dennis Lynn Love, Layton; Darrell Gene Love, Ovid, Idaho; Randy Ellis Love, Stoddard, Utah; Mary Jo Salmons, Auxvasse, Missouri; Dianne Dana, Roy; 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Ennis Love, Layton; Fairen Love, Riverdale; Ruth L. Taylor, Ogden. He was preceded in death by one grandson and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Layton 35th Ward Chapel, 1015 North Emerald Dr., with Bishop Lane Call officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1074 North Fairfield Road, and at the church Saturday 12:45-1:45 p.m. Interment: Kaysville City Cemetery.
