Joseph H. Coenen passed away September 25, 1990 after a long illness.

He was born to Joseph H. and Henritta DeClerque Coenen on September 13, 1910 in Belgium. At age 16, he and his family immigrated to the United States and resided in Westchester, New York. He graduated from Iona High School in Westchester. Later he attended and graduated fron M.I.T., with a degree in photography. On May 12, 1945 he married Grace Rooney in the St. John, The Evangelist Church, in New York City. Joe was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He began his professional career working for Dynacolor, Inc. which was purchased by the 3M Corp. Joe retired from 3M in 1975. That year he and his wife moved to Salt Lake City from St, Paul, Minn. Joe was an avid skier and spent most of his days on the slopes at Alta. In the summer he enjoyed exploring the Wasatch Mountain Range.Joe is survived by his wife, Grace, of Sandy; a brother, Albert Coenen of East Chester, New York; two sisters, Marie Fitzgerald and Laura Plato, both of New Rochelle, New York. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 1990 at 12 noon, in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 South 1700 East, where friends may call Saturday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Joe's memory to the American Cancer Society of Utah, 610 East South Temple, SLC, Utah, 84102.
