A jury voted Wednesday to spare the life of Damon Lundgren, convicted of helping his cult leader father slay a family that belonged to the cult and bury their bodies in the floor of a barn.

The seven-man, five-woman jury recommended a sentence of life in prison with no parole for at least 20 years on each of four counts of aggravated murder, the lightest possible sentence possible.Lundgren was convicted of helping his father kill Dennis Avery and his three daughters in April 1989. Avery's wife also was slain, but the younger Lundgren was not charged in her death.

A separate jury last week recommended the electric chair for Jeffery Don Lundgren, the cult leader who ordered the killings.
