Somewhere between Florida and Pennsylvania, the cremated remains of a man entrusted to the U.S. Postal Service have disappeared.
Adelaide Findlay says the urn holding the ashes of her uncle, Earl H. Miller, 94, was mailed to her on July 16 by officials of the Fairchild Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.The insured package never showed up in Birdsboro, a town of 3,500 about 10 miles southeast of Reading. Miller died July 10 in Pompano Beach, Fla.
"The last several months of his life were hectic for him. And even in death, it's hectic for him," Findlay said.
