The Association for Independent Living of Utah has received a three-year recreation grant of $106,669 each year.
The grant, from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services, will provide funds to hire recreation staff for each of the state's four Centers for Independent Living.The grant will be used to develop recreation opportunities in existing public and private programs and facilities throughout the state.
The centers are non-residential facilities that help people with disabilities maximize their independence.
The centers are Options for Independence in Logan, the Utah Independent Living Center in Salt Lake City, Active Re-Entry in Price, and Opportunities for Independent Living in St. George.
