Larry Speakes, former White House chief spokesman for President Reagan from 1981 to 1987, will be the first speaker for Southern Utah's fall lecture series, Thursday, Sept. 27.

After leaving the White House in 1987, he became senior vice president of Merril Lynch & Co., in New York City, N.Y., where he directed the company's worldwide communications and advertising program. He left Merrill Lynch in April 1988, and his best-selling autobiography, "Speaking Out," was published in May 1988.The lecture will be presented in the SUSC Auditorium at 11 a.m. and is free to the public.
