W. H. (Bill) Holt, died Monday, September 24, 1990.
We, Bill's family, want to say good-bye to our cherished father and friend. Bill's long struggle with cancer was both heroic and inspirational. He showed all of us how to put up a good fight.Bill was a gentle man with gentle ways, one who taught us to always take time to "stop and smell the roses". Bill saw only the best in everyone and always had a positive outlook on life. Each of us will cherish his love, affection and wisdom forever.
Bill was born on December 6, 1921 in Plano, Illinois. (Since there was a raging blizzard that day, God gave him an incredibly warm heart.) He served his country with valor in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and later was a part of many important firsts in both defense and aerospace industries. Although he retired from Lockheed, his contributions were missed so much, the company called him back to work. Bill consulted with Lockheed the remainder of his days.
A man of many talents and affections, he also loved the magnificent 18 wheelers that serve our nation's commerce so well. They were his avocation and the reason Bill called the "crossroads of the west" his home.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Bill Jr. (wife, Bonnie); daughters, Kathy (husband, John),
Therese, and Jane; grandchildren, Jennifer and William; brother, Dick; sister, Helen.
A funeral service will be celebrated by Father Hart at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South 1700 West (Redwood Road) in West Jordan, 10 a.m. Thursday, September 27th. There will be no graveside service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Bill's name, to St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church.
