Margaret Jeanette Batty Burns, 91, died September 24, 1990 of natural causes, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born May 12, 1899, in Colfax, Iowa, to Edward William and Margaret Callahan Batty. She came to Salt Lake City in 1902. Married Samuel Edson Burns, Sr., January 16, 1929, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in June 1965.Active member in the LDS Church serving as secretary of Sunday School, treasurer of the Primary and historian for the Relief Society. She also taught genealogy classes and served on a stake mission. She was an officer for the Ladies Grand Army of the Republic and Chairman for National Child Welfare.

Survived by her son, Andrew Leland, Salt Lake City; five grandchildren; Matthew E., Robert A., and Tori L. Burns; Steven and Rex Griffiths; four great-grandchildren; Joemy M. Ramsey, Daniel, Cole, and Natilie Griffiths; brother, Marlow Callahan. Preceded in death by a son, Samuel Edson, Jr.

Funeral services Friday, September 28th, 11 am.., Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call Thursday evening 6-8 p.m., and Friday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
