Owen Jeston Simper, 75 year old Blackfoot, Idaho resident, died Sunday, September 23, 1990 at the Bingham Memorial Hospital, following a lingering illness.

He was born March 24, 1915, Murray, Utah, the son of Thomas Robert and Elizabeth Pixton Simper. He received his education in Murray, Utah where he lived for 39 years. He married Selma Hebdon, July 1, 1937, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked for Mountain Bell as a construction foreman for 34 yrs. until his retirement in 1973. They moved to Blackfoot, Idaho in 1979, where they have since resided. Owen was a member of the LDS Church where he served as an Elder. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and gardening with his family.Owen is survived by his wife, Selma, Blackfoot; three sons, S. Wayne Simper, Elko, Nevada; Rick Leon Simper, and Darren Kurt Simper, both of Blackfoot; two daughters, Mrs. Craig "Maria" Peterson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Michael "LaConna" Ashby, Heber City; two brothers, Daniel Simper, Pleasant Grove; Donald R. Simper, Cedar City; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Noel Thomas Simper, Milo Pixton Simper and a sister, Eva Marie Simper.

Funeral Services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 1990 at the Blackfoot LDS 6th Ward Chapel on Teton Drive with Bishop Eldon B. Thompson, conducting. The family will meet with friends Wednesday, September 26, 1990, 7-9 p.m. at the Hill-Sandberg Funeral Home and Thursday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial: Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
