An unidentified man was seriously injured Tuesday morning when his pickup truck rolled several times on the northbound lanes of I-15 nearly 3700 South.
The 11 a.m. accident apparently occurred when a roll of carpet padding fell off a southbound vehicle, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said. The padding rolled across the median into the northbound lanes. The pickup truck driver slammed on his brakes and swerved to the left to avoid hitting the padding. A Cadillac hit him from behind.
"The Cadillac picked him up from behind and he started flipping," said Julie Roybal, Murray.
The pickup rolled about five times into the left lane and the median of the northbound freeway, Roybal said. The driver was flown to LDS Hospital.
No one else was injured in the accident. UHP blocked the southbound lanes of I-15 for 10 minutes while the helicopter landed and took off. The injured man's name was withheld pending notification of family.
